MAKE YOUR OWN DIY TUFTED HEADBOARD!
This weekend I had the task of dying from a hairy head. I followed most beautiful girl’s tutorial Sensational change some details here and there. The project was fun, exhausting and rewarding. So without further ado, here's how I made my own thick head.
{Supplies for a king size Tufted headboard} 1/2 inch particle board {you can also use plywood} Approximately 4 yards of batting Approximately 4 yards of fabric Upholstery thread {or embroidery thread, either or} 2 inch foam Button cover kit Decorator needles {ideally at least 3 inches long} D ring hooks {2} |
We start by measuring how big I wanted the head is.
The first step was to get our Home Depot particle board.
You can also get the plywood, plywood, but I was there that day was much distorted, so we opted to agglomerate.
Official Home Depot cut edge of the measurements was {79 1/4 x 36}.
Once we got to the board, which measures the position of the buttons should go. To determine the height, this scored 9 cm {draw a line in the particle board to 9, 18 and 27 inches???}
We believe that the width was, take the total width 79 1/4 divided by the number of buttons to be used in each Row 6. This equates to approximately 11 3/8 the space between the buttons in each row. We begin to find and mark the center (width) and are marked in our horizontal line.
We decided we were going to space 11 3/8in apart, but it would be a button in the center, because we were using an even number of buttons and not an odd number. Therefore, from the center, measuring 1/2 11 3/8 {5} 13/16in in each direction, and points. Among these brands, continue to the outer edge, marking every 11 3/8in apart.
Once all the points have been marked, we used some 7/32 drill and drill in each place. Be sure to drill a hole clear, as it should be clean needle later.
Then we launched our 2 inches. foam board. We cut our cloth foam Depot our measurements. While this is not absolutely necessary, used a spray adhesive to attach the foam board firmly.
Once the foam is attached to the card, is attached SAS stick {we} for $ 2.99/yard. Just cover the entire area with his stick, and use a staple gun to attach.
Before adding our web to the head, we make sure to file. We went with velvet cloth upholstery SAS for 3.99/yard only.
Once pressed, tie the fabric headboard. We make sure everything was pulled taught. Started by setting the fabric in the "superior", then down, and then attached to the sides.
We used a simple model to bend around corners. The simpler the better in our minds :)
This is what to look for before placing buttons {tutorial on how to make tomorrow come covers button}
I will not lie, at the beginning of the adjustment buttons, J and I hated life. It's not difficult, it's just frustrating until you get the hang of it. To fix this, follow these steps: Pass the needle thread decorator furnishings.
Start by putting the needle through the predrilled hole {behind the headboard.} Pierce through the foam, stick, and the fabric and pull through, but be sure to leave a good amount of wire in the back also. Once through, weave the thread through the button several times we did {} twice to ensure their safety. Pull the thread through the hole of it back. It was the most difficult for us. At first, we spent a few minutes on each hole trying to get through, but once you get the hang of it, things went much faster! Once through, pull the thread shows how you want your script is. Connect the cable stapled to the board on several occasions, and hammer the staples. Make sure you move along your withdrawals are even.
A funny thing happened to us in the beginning to connect our buttons. When J will lead the staples fronts die button cover. We thought it was funny, but also annoying, until we realized that as pressure was applied on the button while hammering, were gold!
Once all the buttons are right, time to hang the head. You have several options for this. You can use brackets {D} we choose, or use hooks and D of a wire, or you can join 2x4 in the back and attach it to your bed frame. We're screwed two hooks D on our return, and we went to the gallows!
To hang up, we find only the center of our wall, our chosen height, and time with dowels and screws.
Ready for the final result!
What do you think? As of now, we have our bed right in the bottom of the header. I think we should drop a little more, but for now I think it's funny and dramatic as your business headboard. What do you think? When we were in the discussion, we turn to you :) Also, enter this project for the challenge of finding and do, so much fun!
